Painting everyday

I've been thinking about what  motivates me to paint or draw everyday. Having things set up in a studio helps, but when I didn't have that I tended to keep sketchbooks around the house , in my purse. Looking at other people's work, photos, walking outside jump starts ideas to try. It works for me to make a list of ideas, take photos, keep a reference of images.
one thing I've found is that telling someone about what you want to paint stops me from painting it. I need to keep it to myself until I do it.

Three new paintings at \Collage Gallery on view the month of May opening Fri. 6-8pm

pastel series for May

This is a new month to start a new series of pastels of local landscapes and surrounding parks. I am putting this together for a show that I will have in August at New City Library. It is really a continuation of my love of the local landscape I was drawn to when I first moved to Warwick,NY in 1986. I can paint the same scene down the same road over and over again and always find something new.
